Bayscape garden workshop – New Date!
October 21 @ 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM| Free
Create a beautiful garden, preserve local waterways and protect the Bay.
Join us for a FREE garden workshop to learn about Bay-Wise landscaping with native plants and then get hands-on experience planting a Bayscape Garden at a private residence.
Bayscapes replace lawn with native plants that support wildlife, reduce maintenance, and filter rain water from your yard, driveway, or other hard surfaces. Bayscapes are planted in areas that will intercept and filter rainwater before it runs off to the creek, the Bay or a storm drain.
Workshop qualifies for community service learning hours.
Date: Saturday October 21, 10 am – 1 pm
What to expect: Dress for yard work (hat, long pants, sneakers/boots) and bring your own water bottle. Garden gloves and tools will be provided. Our hosts will provide lunch
Location: Private residence, 1117 Engleberth Road, Essex, MD 21221
This workshop is part of the Clear Creeks (CCKs) project. Coordinated by the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, the Clear Creeks Project is a grant-funded, citizen-based initiative that helps answer a community desire to restore the water quality of the Middle River, Tidal Gunpowder, and Bird River watersheds. Additional funding provided by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation; Chesapeake Bay Trust; Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability; Baltimore Gas and Electric; and Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund, administered by Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
