Event Navigation

Join the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy’s Clear Creeks Project to learn how a bayscape garden functions, where to place it, how it is designed, how to select plants, and how it is installed.  Then help to plant a historic bayscape garden in Miramar Landing, the first Baltimore County community to achieve Bay-Wise certification of all common land owned by a homeowner association.

Bayscapes are beautiful landscapes that work with nature to protect our creeks and the Bay. Bayscapes replace lawn with native plants (attractive native flowers, grasses, shrubs and even trees) that support wildlife, reduce maintenance, and filter rain water from your roof, yard, driveway, or other hard surfaces.

Community service learning hours available for students. Open to the general public. Gardening supplies will be provided. Dress for yard work and bring a water bottle.

The Clear Creeks (CCKs) project, coordinated by the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, is a grant-funded, citizen-based initiative that helps answer a community desire to restore the water quality of the Middle River, Tidal Gunpowder, and Bird River watersheds.

Funding provided by The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Chesapeake Bay Trust and Baltimore County Environmental Protection and Sustainability.
