Better Waterways Clean-Up
November 18 @ 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM| Free
Do your part to keep our local waterways clean!
With assistance from over 10,000 volunteers, the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy has removed over 200 tons of trash from streams and creeks in the Gunpowder Watershed. We need YOUR help to continue the task of removing refuse that jeopardize the health of our waterways and the animals that call them home.
We are seeking individual volunteers and volunteer groups. Perfect for students, Scout troops, religious affiliation groups, corporate groups, families, singles and neighbors! Ages 8 and up. Community service learning hours available.
Interested in taking your service to the next level? You can receive training to become a Creek Captain and lead a clean-up in your neighborhood! Contact Peggy Perry, Program Director and Clear Creeks Project Manager to learn more.
This event is rain or shine.
There are several locations throughout the Gunpowder watershed; you will be assigned to a stream clean-up event near you.
Please arrive by 9:45am.
Trash bags, and refreshments will be provided.
What to wear: Bring your own work gloves. Wear rubber boots, (we will be cleaning trash stuck on debris in the water as well), pants, long sleeve top, and hat. Bring rain gear, water bottle and tick repellent.
This event is part of the Clear Creeks Project’s Stream Watch Program sponsored by the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy in partnership with the Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability, and funded by Recreation Equipment, Inc. (REI).
