Get outdoors in support of land preservation and clean water!
Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC) is committed to clean water for the two million people who live in, visit, or benefit from the Gunpowder Watershed. Our Explore the Gunpowder Watershed Challenge is a great way to appreciate the natural beauty, historic sites, and local businesses that make the Gunpowder one-of-a-kind.
Explore the Gunpowder is a hybrid event where residents can engage in activity and exploration challenges at their own pace, join the watershed community for volunteer opportunities, and compete against their friends and neighbors.
Here’s a quick overview of what you need to know:
- Event Period: The 2024 Explore the Gunpowder event period will be April 22 – May 31, 2024. There will be a variety of sponsored events for you to attend during this time. Stay tuned!
- Activity Challenge: Complete 35 miles of activity in celebration of GVC’s 35th anniversary! This inclusive event is at your own pace. You can bike, walk, run, roll, swim, or otherwise move through the watershed.
- Exploration Challenge: Visit local nature centers and businesses to earn stickers in your Explore the Gunpowder Watershed passport. You can also earn a sticker for attending a GVC workshop or volunteer activity!
- Making Memories: We can’t wait to hear about your discoveries! Participants will receive details on how to share their photos and stories for possible inclusion in GVC social media.
