What Happens To Your Recycling Once it is Picked Up From the Curb?
Join us for a FREE tour of the Baltimore County Materials Recovery Facility (MRF)! You’ll go behind-the-scenes to understand how Baltimore County single stream recycling works. Confused about what can or can’t go into your recycling bin? You’ll also have the chance to learn best practices from an MRF employee. This tour is part of the Explore the Gunpowder Watershed Challenge – you can earn a Gunpowder Passport sticker by attending the tour.

EVENT INFO
The tour will be approximately 60-90 minutes. Please dress accordingly for visiting this facility – – closed toe shoes and no heels. Photographs will not be allowed for privacy concerns of the workers. The tour requires some walking and stair climbing.
Driving Directions:
- The facility is located at 201 West Warren Road, Cockeysville, MD 21030. Note: some map software will inaccurately show this address on the east side of York Road. Entrance is on Drop Off Drive, off of Warren Road, one quarter mile west of York Road. See below.
- Take I83 N to the Warren Road exit. From Warren Road, turn right onto Beaver Dam Road and then turn left onto Resource Road. There will be a sign that reads “Baltimore County Central Acceptance Facility” on the left. Continue straight down the road and stay to the right lane as you curve around a bend(there are scales for weighing garbage trucks in the central and left lanes). Use caution while going through this area as the single right hand lane is used for incoming and outgoing traffic. You will then see a building on your left. Park in the circle parking area in front of building
