Stream Clean-Up: Carney (FULL)

Do your part to keep our local waterways clean! Spend a morning removing trash along a section of the Jennifer Branch.
With assistance from over 10,000 volunteers, the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy has removed over 240 tons of trash from streams and creeks in the Gunpowder Watershed. We need YOUR help to continue the task of removing refuse that jeopardizes the health of our waterways and the animals that call them home
Volunteers are needed to clean a section of the Jennifer Branch in Carney. This clean-up project is part of the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy’s Better Waterways fall clean-up campaign. We are seeking individual volunteers and volunteer groups to spend several hours picking up garbage in and around our local streams. Perfect for students, Scout troops, faith groups, corporate groups, families, individuals and neighbors! Children must be at least 8 years old and accompanied by an adult. Community service learning hours available.
Date: Saturday, November 23, 2019
Time: Please arrive by 9:45 am to sign in. Clean up begins at 10:00 am and goes to 12:00 pm.
Location: Carney Park & Ride lot, Harford Road.The Carney Park & Ride lot is on Harford Road, north of the intersection with Joppa Road. Head north on Harford Road, crossing Joppa Road, and pass the Walgreens on the left; the Park & Ride will come up on the left. Turn left onto Jomat Avenue and enter the Park & Ride lot on the left.
What to wear/bring: Work gloves will be provided, but you may bring your own if you like. Close-toed shoes that can get wet are mandatory; rubber boots or waders (optional) are recommended. Wear long pants and long sleeves, and bring sun protection and/or rain gear as appropriate. Water bottles are also recommended.
