Forest Steward workshop
06/22/2019 @ 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM
Learn valuable ecological skills as a Forest Steward!
The goal of this workshop is to offer a hands-on learning experience within Gunpowder Falls State Park on invasive plant identification, successful removal techniques, native plant identification and installation. This FREE event is made possible by a conservation grant from the MD Mountain Club Lester Miles Fund, and by a partnership with the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC) and Gunpowder Falls State Park.
No experience is necessary! We are looking for middle, high, and college level students, community residents, Scouts, and outdoors people who care about our waterways and the Chesapeake Bay! Do you like being outside in nature and don’t mind working hard? Do you want to receive community service hours? Then join us and become a Forest Steward for the day. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old.
Registration deadline is Wednesday June 19th. Space limited to 30 volunteers. Questions? Contact Tiiu Mayer by email.
When: Saturday June 22, 9:30 am – 2:30 pm. Please arrive by 9:15 to sign-in and receive instructions.
What to bring: Remember to wear sturdy shoes, bring a hat and clothes that can get dirty. Bring your own lunch and water. We will break for lunch around noon.
