Explore the Gunpowder Kickoff Event

Stop by the beautiful Lake Pavilion at Oregon Ridge to get some snacks and your FREE Gunpowder Passport!

Get ready to get outdoors for clean water. Our updated Explore the Gunpowder Watershed Challenge starts on May 1st. New this year is a Gunpowder Passport where you can collect event stickers by visiting local businesses, nature centers and historic venues, and/or volunteering with Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC).  We will have Gunpowder Passports on hand to distribute at our kickoff event.

Visit us between 11 am – 1 pm at the Lake Pavilion at Oregon Ridge Nature Center. We’ll have some light snacks to share and plenty of information and inspiration for your Explore the Gunpowder activities. After you visit with us, feel free to stay longer and check out the nature center and hiking trails!

Directions: 13555 Beaver Dam Road, Cockeysville, MD 21030. From Hunt Valley, head west on Shawan Road. Turn left at the traffic light onto Beaver Dam Road.  Immediately stay to the right to continue on small paved road behind Oregon Grille restaurant as this will take you up towards the Oregon Ridge Nature Center. At the top of the hill, you’ll see a pavilion that overlooks the old quarry lake. Parking is available in the parking lot immediately adjacent to the pavilion. Look for GVC event signs.
