Adopt-a-Stream Workshop – FULL
March 7 @ 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
**Registration is now closed for this workshop (2/26/20). Please consider volunteering at one of our upcoming Project Clean Stream events in April (dates TBD)**
The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy is looking for volunteers, age 18+, to join our Adopt-a-Stream Program. It’s easy to participate:
- Attend this training to become a Stream Captain.
- Agree to clean your adopted stream segment twice a year.
- Send us your trash data.
- Watch for and report stream hazards.
- It’s that simple!
Adopt-A-Stream is great for individuals, families, neighborhoods, Scout groups, schools, or community groups. In the workshop, you will learn about the threats to the health of the Gunpowder watershed and how to help to protect and improve our local creeks and rivers. Topics will include how to safely remove trash from the waterways, how to properly identify problems such as sewer breaks and illicit discharges, and who to contact to report such problems.
Date: Saturday, March 7 (10 am – 1 pm)
Location: Cromwell Valley Park – Sherwood House, 2002 Cromwell Bridge Road, Parkville, MD 21234
From I-695 take exit 29A. Turn left at the first light onto Cromwell Bridge Road, then go about one mile. You will pass Loch Raven High School. Turn left at the first entrance for Cromwell Valley Park (Sherwood Farm). Continue down long driveway, which eventually turns into a one way road. Park in gravel lot and head towards Sherwood House.
What to bring: Pen, notepad, water bottle, and rubber boots and gloves for optional stream wading (weather and time permitting).
