Newly planted trees need TLC to survive. Spend a couple hours to help make our Reforestation projects a success!
Tree maintenance involves removing invasive plants, checking planted trees to see if the shelter needs to be removed and removing if necessary, digging out the planting tube, and making sure the plant is upright.
Community service learning hours available. Limited to 10 participants (ages 13+).
When: Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10 am – 1 pm. Please arrive 15 minutes early so you can sign in and receive tools.
What to bring: Wear long pants, long sleeved shirt and closed-toed shoes (boots are best). Dressing in layers is best as you will warm up as you work and may want to shed a layer not just a heavy coat. Bring warm gloves if you have them. Bring a filled water bottle.
Directions: Cromwell Valley Park (2002 Cromwell Bridge Rd, Parkville MD 21234). Take I-695 to exit 29A. Turn left at the first light onto Cromwell Bridge Road, then go about 1 mile. Watch for the speed camera near Loch Raven High School. Turn left at the first entrance (Sherwood Farm) to Cromwell Valley Park. Please note that the entrance road is one lane but two-way traffic. Follow entrance road until you see a side road on the left with a sign for Talmar. Turn left onto lane and follow until you see a big white barn. Park on the grass between the entrance lane and the white barn. Walk back to the main entrance road to the bridge on your left. The event leader will be set up there.
