September 15 @ 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Newly planted trees need TLC to survive. Spend a couple hours to help make our Reforestation projects a success!
Tree maintenance involves removing invasive plants, checking planted trees to see if the shelter needs to be removed and removing if necessary, digging out the planting tube, and making sure the plant is upright.
Community service learning hours available. Must be at least 13 years old to participate.
When: Saturday September 15, 2018 from 10 am – 1 pm. Please arrive 15 minutes early so you can sign in and receive tools.
What to bring: Wear long pants, long sleeved shirt and closed-toed shoes (boots are best). Bring leather gloves if you have them. Bring a filled water bottle.
Directions: From Towson, head north on Dulaney Valley Road and cross the bridge over the reservoir. At intersection with Jarrettsville Pike (146), continue on Dulaney Valley Road and eventually turn left to stay on Dulaney Valley Road at the intersection at the old Peerce’s Restaurant. Follow a short distance to where overhead powerlines cross. Turn left at the white gazebo and park. Do NOT block the gate. You may drive through the gate and park closer to the site at your discretion. (I will be driving my Prius up the road through the gate and parking near the tree field.) If driving up the power line service road keep going until road bears left and you should see my black Prius.I’ll have tools and supplies with me. If you park outside the gate just don’t block the gate. You’ll the walk up the road to where you see my Prius. Please bring plenty of cold water.
