Jamie Welsh Memorial Tree Planting
September 7 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join us in creating a living tribute to Jamison Tawney “Jamie” Welsh.
The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC) is honored to host a tree planting on September 7th in memory of Jamison Tawney “Jamie” Welsh (1972-2023). We have chosen a meaningful location for his family at Loch Raven Reservoir near Morgan Mill Road. Please join us in volunteering to plant trees and other native plants to create a living tribute.

This project is possible thanks to the generous support of Jamie’s family, friends, and co-workers. Anyone interested in making an additional donation in memory of Jamie may do so by clicking here.
Jamie was many things, including an outdoorsman and conservationist with a deep appreciation for nature and the environment. Jamie loved his home in the Gunpowder Watershed. He would take his dogs on long hikes throughout the area, particularly through Loch Raven, where we will be planting trees in his memory.
GVC is a Baltimore County-based land trust and watershed restoration organization. More than 36,000 trees have been planted by GVC volunteers over the past 35 years throughout the Gunpowder Watershed. Restoring forested habitat protects the quality of Baltimore’s drinking water supply. Native trees and shrubs also improve wildlife habitat, store carbon to reduce the impact CO2 emissions, provide energy savings in residential neighborhoods, and contribute to our mental well-being.
