SUMMARY:Rain Garden workshop - FULL
DESCRIPTION:Registration is now closed for this event. Please visit our calendar of events for other volunteer opportunities. \nNote: Participants are expected to wear face masks during this event. The event will be held outdoors and adhere to our COVID-19 social distancing policy. \nRain gardens are a beautiful AND functional solution to stormwater runoff. Learn how to create one.\n \nJoin us for a FREE Rain Garden workshop and then get hands-on experience installing a rain garden at a private residence in Timonium. \nA rain garden is a special\, water loving garden that helps soak up rain water from your roof or driveway.  It is designed to capture water from a 1” rain storm and slowly infiltrate it back into the ground. By using beautiful\, native flowers\, grasses and even trees\, a rain garden will beautify your yard while reducing stormwater impacts.  It also provides habitat for wildlife\, beneficial insects\, such as ladybugs\, and pollinators like butterflies. \nNo gardening experience necessary! A maximum of 10 people\, including the homeowner and our staff\, will be allowed to participate in this event. We are allowing minors (ages 10 – 17) to attend our events as long as there is one parent/legal guardian per two children. \nEVENT INFO \nLocation: Private residence\, 303 Gateswood Road\, Timonium\, MD 21093 \nWhat to expect: Dress for yard work (hat\, long pants\, sneakers/boots\, sunscreen\, bug spray) and bring a water bottle labeled with your name. \nThis workshop is part of the Clear Creeks Project. Coordinated by the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy\, the Clear Creeks Project is a grant-funded\, citizen-based initiative that helps answer a community desire to restore the water quality of the Bird River\, Loch Raven East\, Loch Raven South\, Lower Gunpowder Falls\, Middle River\, and Tidal Gunpowder watersheds. Additional funding provided by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation; Chesapeake Bay Trust; Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability; Baltimore Gas and Electric; and Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund\, administered by Maryland Department of Natural Resources. \n
