Partnership with Baltimore County

The Master Plan of Baltimore County  establishes a framework for resource conservation and land preservation that relies on local land trusts, county and state funding. Baltimore County is working with Gunpowder Valley Conservancy and other local land trusts to achieve its goal of protecting 80,000 acres of land through conservation easements by 2020. Currently 64,319 acres have been protected by conservation easements.

The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy is a unique land trust because we also work as a watershed education and restoration organization. However, there are four additional land trusts in Baltimore County preserving farmland, forests,
historic and natural areas of the county.
